Peptide
A short chain of amino acids.
A peptide is a short polymer of amino acids joined by peptide bonds, generally fewer than about 50 residues. Peptides are smaller than proteins and typically lack the complex folded tertiary structure of full proteins. In research, synthetic peptides are used as defined molecular tools to probe specific receptors and signaling pathways.
